The Michigan Wolverines started their football program in 1879, and to date the program holds the records for most wins and the highest winning percentage in NCAA Division I-A history. From 1901 to 1905, the team went undefeated, and tied only one game - to the Minnesota Gophers. The tie game resulted in the oldest college rivalry trophy, The Little Brown Jug. Before the Wolverines' loss to Chicago in 1905, the team won 56 games straight, and one-hundred years later is the second longest winning streak by a college team in the history of the game. Due to these and other successes, the team is widely regarded as the best college football team in history.
The Michigan Wolverines compete in the Big 10 Conference, and currently the team holds or shares 42 league titles, more than any other football program in the country. The Wolverines have won 11 NCAA national championships in their tenure, and are consistently attracting more visitors to their stadium than any other team, with the highest NCAA home attendance every year since 1974, with the exception of 1997. Michigan football is among the biggest college football programs in the country, and every year excites and awes its fans. You can be assured that Michigan is not going back down on its history of delivering quality, aggressive football in Ann Arbor. Get out this season and see these Wolverines do what they do best - win!
