2009 Ohio State Football Preview:
Head Coach: Jim Tressell
The 2009 Ohio State Buckeyes will be one of the best teams in college football. The Buckeyes have been the top team in the Big 10 for the past decade, so they are used to being part of the National Championship conversation. The 2009 OSU squad's National Championship hopes will rest squarely on the young shoulders of super Soph quarterback Terrelle Pryor. If Pryor can improve upon his play from his fantastic 2008 season, when he started as a true freshman, then watch out for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes lost a few key skill positions to the NFL, but Pryor's mobility and passing make him capable of taking over a game on his own. On defense Head Coach Jim Tressel has to replace a few key players from the 2008 Ohio State team, but has talent across his frontline and Safety Kurt Coleman returning. Ohio State will get an early test when the always powerful USC Trojans roll into Columbus, for what should be one of the biggest games of the season.

Every year the Ohio State Buckeyes football team is one of the most exciting teams to watch. In 2002-2003, the Buckeyes won their first consensus national championship in three decades in what many consider to be one of the greatest championship games ever played, as the Ohio State Buckeyes beat the heavily favored Miami Hurricanes in double overtime. Ohio State Buckeyes again made it to a national championship in 2007, only to lose to Florida 41-14. The Buckeyes play in the Big Ten conference, one of the most competitive and storied football conferences in the country. Attending an Ohio State Buckeyes game at Ohio Stadium is perhaps the quintessential college football experience.

Ohio State Buckeyes football has a 116 year history. The Buckeyes have won or shared 30 Big Ten Conference titles, and have the best all time record in the Big Ten. Over the years, Ohio State Buckeyes has suited up a long list of talented players, including Archie Griffin, Chris Spielman, Eddie George, Orlando Pace, and more recently Tedd Ginn Jr. and Troy Smith. The rivalry between Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines is one of the most celebrated in football. Ohio State also has rivalries with Illinois Fighting Illini and Indiana Hoosiers for many years. Since Penn State Nittany Lions was added to the conference in 1993, Ohio State Buckeyes has found a new inter-conference rival with the Nittany Lions, another legendary football program and perennial powerhouse.

The Ohio State Buckeyes play home games at Ohio Stadium, which holds over 102,000 spectators.
