The Wisconsin Badgers football team is always one of the toughest teams in the Big Ten conference and in the country. The team has seen a roller coaster ride of ups and downs since the turn of the century but has once again established itself as a team to be reckoned with. The Wisconsin Badgers have yet to win a national title, but do have many conference titles. Wisconsin has also managed to finish every season since 1937 in the top-25. A home game at Camp Randall Stadium is one of the quintessential college football experiences.
Wisconsin first fielded a Badger football team in 1889. The team has only been ranked No.1 in the nation once, in 1952. They would go on to lose the Rose Bowl to USC Trojans that season. The Badgers' recent bowl record has been fantastic, winning 6 of their last 8 bowl appearances. Two of those were Rose Bowl Appearances, both of which the Badgers won. Running back Ron Dayne helped win the 1999 and 2000 Rose Bowls for the Wisconsin Badgers by posting 246 and 200 yards rushing. And who can forget Ron Dayne's all-time rushing record-breaking season in which he also won the Heisman Trophy, among various other awards. And with more than 30 current alumni in the NFL, Wisconsin Badgers has proven itself to be a powerful recruiter of talent.
The Wisconsin Badgers play their home games at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. Opened in 1917 and with a capacity of more than 80,000, the stadium is the fourth largest in the Big Ten and one of the oldest in the country. Attending a game at Camp Randall and feeling the stadium shake under the crowds “Jump Around” between the 3rd and 4th quarters is a wild experience you can't forget.
