2014 Florida Gators Season Preview
Will Muschamp enters his 4th season as the Florida Gators head coach with a target on his back. After a promising 11 win season in 2012, the Gators responded with a 4-8 campaign in 2013 that saw the team miss a bowl game for the first time since 1990. The season was highlighted with a home loss to FCS Georgia Southern, who won despite not completing a single pass attempt. Florida comes into 2014 as a bit of an uncertainty. The team lost some major talent on the defensive side of the ball with players like Dominique Easley, Jaylen Watkins, and Ronald Powell all leaving for the NFL. But the offense returns one of the most experienced front 5’s in college football to protect junior quarterback Jeff Driskel. Driskel will try to fix the Gators offensive woes from last season that saw the team score under 20 points in their final 7 games. If Muschamp can work some of his defensive magic on a depleted, but still talented Florida defensive group, the Gators could make some waves in the SEC East. With games at Alabama, at Georgia, and at Florida State, the boys from Gainesville will have plenty of time in the spotlight, for better or worse.

Florida Gators Football at The Swamp Address: 157 Gale Lemerand Dr, Gainesville, Florida, 32601
The Florida Gators play heir home games at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida. Holding over 90,000 spectators, it's the 10th largest college stadium in America. Also known as the Swamp, the stadium is considered one of the most inhospitable venues to play as a visiting team. On-field temperatures often reach over 100 degrees, and with the closed-in design of the stands, there is no breeze to bring relief from the heat. Then there's the crowd, which also takes advantage of the bowl shape of the stadium to be one of the loudest in college football. The Florida Gators home bench is on the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium sideline with sections 2-16. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium parking is covered in our Gators event guide.
There’s not many rivalries that have produced the games and moments this one has, even going so far as a national title game in 1996 that was won by Florida. Whether it’s 94’s Choke at Doak or the Sugar Bowl, the names usually involved in this rivalry are legendary. From Bowden to Spurrier to Tebow, this is a game you do not want to miss.
Held annually in Jacksonville at Everbank Field, it’s the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party – one of the only places where the pre-game is as crazy and adventurous as the contest itself. Fans from Athens and Gainesville make the trip to Jacksonville to be a part of a huge rivalry and lots of fun, and this game is a must for any college football fan.
Florida Gators in the BCS National Championship, Bowl Games, and SEC Championship
It hasn’t been since 1990 that the Gators have failed to reach postseason play and over that time they have put together two BCS National Champion Seasons, winning it all in 2006 and 2008. Their .500 record over 40 plus historical bowl games is impressive but their eight SEC Championships since 1991 is even more remarkable.
