Florida State Seminoles Bowl Game Tickets Information

Florida State made their first bowl game in the 1954 season when they met UTEP in the Sun Bowl. Ultimately they lost 47-20 but once they started making bowl games they’ve never stopped. Their best streak of bowl success came from 1985 to 1995 when they would make 11 straight bowl games and win them all. A lot of that success has to be attributed to their legendary coach Bobby Bowden.

Bowden took over the head coaching duties at Florida State and brought immediate success to the Seminoles. He led the team to 31 bowl games and cemented his place in history by racking up 377 wins as a head coach. During his streak of success he led Florida State to three straight championship games. They first played in the National Championship game in the 1998 season where they faced off with Tennessee. They got beat 23-16 in a closely contested game. That disappointment fueled another run to the championship game the very next year. This time the Seminoles, led by Peter Warrick, came out on top and were crowned National Champions when they defeated Mike Vick and Virginia Tech 46-29. They’d make the trip back to the championship game in 2000 but would lose 13-2 to Oklahoma.

Florida State has always been a prominent college football program but after a few seasons of failing to live up to expectations they finally put all the pieces together in the 2013, season on their march to the National Championship. They won every regular season game by at least 30 points. They met Auburn in the championship and after falling down 21-3 early, they came all the way back to take the lead 27-24 late in the 4th quarter. A long touchdown run by Auburn’s Tre Mason set the stage for Jameis Winston to drive his team down the field for the win. He moved the Seminoles down the field with less than a minute left on the clock. Winston hit Kelvin Benjamin with the game winning touchdown pass with 13 seconds left on the clock.
