Iowa State played in four bowl games throughout the 1970s which included an appearance in the Peach Bowl. Unfortunately for the Cyclones, they did not win any of those games. Also, Iowa State did not make another bowl appearance for over 20 years. That drought was broken in 2000 when the Cyclones played in the Insight Bowl against the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Cyclones first bowl game since 1978 was also their first bowl win in program history. Since 2000, Iowa State has been a consistent presence during bowl season as they have made a bowl game over seven times in that period. Overall, the Cyclones have made more than 10 bowl games and are consistently adding new bowl appearances and wins to the programs record books.
