Kent State Golden Flashes Rivals

Kent State vs. Akron

Known as the Battle for the Wagon Wheel, these two Northeast Ohio neighbors have one of the toughest rivalries in the Midwest. The rivalry originated in 1923 and has been played over 50 times since. The schools are separated by only about 15 miles, and compete for players, students, MAC West and Conference titles. It is not often that two programs the caliber of Kent State and Akron are located so close to each other that fans from both sides are able travel in force to away games.

Kent State vs. Bowling Green

In a region known for decades old rivalries, this relatively new matchup has been one of the better games to come out in the last 3 decades. The two schools compete for the Anniversary Award Trophy that was created in 1985 and now play as conference and divisional rivals in the MAC West. Two of the storied programs in the State of Ohio, this matchup has continued to grow in prominence over the years and promises to be one of the best the MAC over the next decade.
