2015 Mississippi State Football Preview:
Mississippi State had a breakout season last year. Behind the stellar play of Dak Prescott, the Bulldogs started 7-0 and were ranked #1 in the nation. Prescott returns for Mississippi State in 2015 and will have one of the most experienced teams in the country behind him. The 2015 Mississippi State roster includes 8 senior starters, with no underclassmen slated to start the opener for MSU. Prescott’s ability to beat teams with his legs and his arm, put him in an elite category among college quarterbacks, and he should be in the Heisman conversation late in the season. Mississippi State’s chances in 2015 will lay heavily on Prescott’s shoulders, but the quarterback has proven to play his best in big situations. Look for the Bulldogs to separate themselves in a packed SEC West division. The 2015 Mississippi State Bulldogs football schedule includes major home games against LSU, Alabama, and Ole Miss.

2014 Mississippi State Football Preview:
Under Dan Mullen’s reign, the Bulldogs have made it to 4 straight bowl games, and the energy around the program is as high as it has been in a decade. The 2013 season saw the Bulldogs not only win 7 games, but also go toe to toe with many of the top teams in the SEC, proving that State is just a hair away from being able to compete for an SEC championship. Dak Prescott returns for his junior season as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country. Mississippi State’s dynamic rushing attack will also include a running back tandem of Josh Robinson and Nick Griffin behind a veteran offensive line. Playing in the SEC West is never easy, and State will have high profile road games at LSU and in Oxford against arch-rival Ole Miss. There is little doubt that Mississippi State will have one of the top rushing attacks in the nation, and will look to pound their way through the SEC on the ground.

2013 Mississippi State Football Preview:
Playing in the SEC is never an easy task, but the Mississippi State Bulldogs are hopeful that they can build off a 2012 season that saw them start 3-0 in the conference and finish with a bowl berth after winning 8 games. Head coach Dan Mullen has done a great job in his three years and is already tied for sixth in school history for wins. Mullen’s success has caught the attention of the Bulldog faithful as they have sold out a school-record 16 consecutive home games at Davis Wade Stadium. Mississippi State returns quarterback Tyler Russell after a season where he threw for nearly 3,000 yards with 24 touchdowns.

The Bulldogs are solid on the offensive line and at running backs and with the top players returning to the front seven on defense, Mississippi State will be able to compete with anyone in football, even in the SEC. Mullen’s team will start their season with Oklahoma State on a neutral field, but will host conference rivals LSU and Alabama with trips to Texas A&M and South Carolina.

2011 Mississippi State Football Preview:
If there’s one coach in the SEC that could serve as its own mascot, it’s Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen. The tenacity he’s brought to Starkville led to its first bowl game last year in twelve years. With a new stadium and complex, this is definitely a new era for Bulldog football.

However, who will be throwing the ball in this new era is still up in the air. Senior Chris Relf is looking to separate himself from the competition this spring, but even with a solid 2010, he’s still in the hunt along with sophomore Tyler Russell and redshirt freshman Dylan Favre. In the backfield, senior Vick Ballard is looking for his first 1,000 yard season, a milestone he missed by only 32 yards last year. At wideout, junior Chad Bumphis looks to become Mullen’s go to guy.

There are holes in the defense caused by NFL defections in every defensive unit except for the secondary, which makes it the Bulldogs’ strongest. senior Charles Mitchell will start at safety while juniors Johnthan Banks and Corey Broomfield will continue their strong careers at State.

2010 Mississippi State Football Preview:
Mississippi State generally finds themselves toward the bottom of the SEC West, and that was once again the case in 2009. The Bulldogs finished a disappointing 5-7, with a 3-5 conference record. With a difficult schedule and an inexperienced offense, it is hard to believe that they can improve on that result this year.

Coach Dan Mullen enters his second season in Starkville with lots of question marks on offense. One of the biggest questions is who will play quarterback, as junior Chris Relf and redshirt freshman Tyler Russell are vying for the starting job. The Bulldogs had the best rushing offense in the SEC last season, but since Anthony Dixon, who ran for 1,391 yards, graduated, they will have to find someone else to carry the load. That onus falls on the shoulders of either junior Robert Elliott or Vick Ballard.

The defenses strength will be its front seven, led by senior linebackers Chris White and K.J. Wright. Both had solid junior campaigns and should be just as productive as seniors. Sophomore cornerback Corey Broomfield anchors a secondary that could benefit from the added pressure up front.

Although Bulldog fans may be hoping for only their second bowl bid in ten years, games at Florida, LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss may be problematic.

2009 Mississippi State Football Preview:
Head Coach: Dan Mullen
The Mississippi State Bulldogs will be breaking in a new Head Coach when the 2009 season kicks off. Gone is former Bulldog coach Sylvester Croom; replacing him is former Florida Gator offensive coordinator Dan Mullen. The position in Starkville will be the first-time that Mullen has been Head Coach of a college football program, but he has a wealth of coordinator experience from Florida and Utah. Part of Mullen's goal will be to get the excitement back in Davis Wade Stadium and to start winning some SEC games. Bulldogs fans are probably also hoping for a big win in the Egg Bowl, which would give MSU a chance to hurt the season of their big in-state rival, Ole Miss.

2008 Mississippi State Football Preview:
Head Coach: Sylvester Croom
The Mississipi State Bulldogs football program is one of the most exciting to follow in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) this coming season. The Bulldogs finished the 2007 season with a respectable record and a bowl bid to play the Conference USA champion in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis. The SEC is widely considered the toughest and most competitive conference in the country, and Mississippi State fans will cram into Davis Wade Stadium this year to cheer the Bulldogs on to a conference championship and a BCS bowl bid.
