The Missouri Tigers football program takes its name from a citizen brigade formed during the Civil War to protect the citizens of Columbia, Missouri Tigers from roving bands of plunderers. Missouri football takes this legacy seriously. One of only 39 teams in all college football to win more than 500 games, winning 12 conference championships, fielding 23 All-Americans and 11 members of the College Football Hall of Fame, the Tigers are one of most storied, yet underestimated, football programs in the country. 2015 Mizzou Season Preview
There might not have been a bigger surprise or success story in 2013 than the Missouri Tigers. Gary Pinkel and company quieted any critics that they may have had in the SEC, as the team stormed through their conference schedule, finishing 3 points away from going undefeated in the regular season. A win over Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl cemented the Tigers as one of top programs in the country for the season. The offseason saw a number of talented players exit Columbia for the NFL draft, including James Franklin, Michael Sam, Justin Britt, and Kony Ealy. However, the 2014 Tigers roster will not be without talent. Maty Mauk will finally get his shot to be an every down starter and will have a trio of senior receivers to dish the ball to. Much of Missouri’s success last season was due to their fantastic defensive line. Expect that high level of play to continue with seniors Markus Golden, Vincent Lucas, and Matt Hoch headlining a very talented squad. Key games of the season for Missouri will be at South Carolina, Georgia, and at Texas A&M.

Missouri vs. Kansas
The rivalry game between the Jayhawks and Tigers is known as the Border War, and thus it’s played in Kansas City, which is carved in half at the Kansas and Missouri state line. Both of these schools and their fans can’t stand losing against the other, and for a while they won’t have the opportunity as Mizzou bolted for the SEC.
