TCU football traces its origins back to 1896, when the school was still known as AddRan College. Most of the Horned Frog's success came in the Southwest Conference under head coach Dutch Meyer. He would win national championships by winning the Sugar Bowl in 1935 and 1938. TCU has won a total of 14 conference championships in the Southwest Conference, the WAC, Conference USA, and the Mountain West Conference. Some of the great players to wear the Purple and White at TCU include Sammy Baugh, Davey O'Brien, and LaDainian Tomlinson.
The TCU Horned Frogs play their home games at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Ft. Worth, Texas. The excavation for the 44,008 capacity stadium is where the Horned Frog nickname originated. Workers discovered thousands of Texas Horned Lizards shooting blood at them. The Horned Frogs will try to leave a similar impression on opposing teams this season.
