Another memorable bowl win for NC State occurred on New Year’s Day in 2003 as the Wolfpack defeated Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl. The victory gave NC State 11 wins, which set a program high and a top 15 ranking at seasons end.

On December 31, 2012, NC State squared off against the Vanderbilt Commodores in the Music City Bowl as NC State was trying to finish the season with eight victories. Average ticket price for the 2014 Music City Bowl was $58. Vanderbilt defeated the Wolfpack 38-24, in one of the most exciting games of the season.
