The Cal Golden Bears are one of the best teams in college football. So even though they finished 9-4 in 2008, they are still expected to compete for a BCS bowl in 2009. Cal Head Coach Jeff Tedford is a masterful quarterback coach, who once again will be tutoring a talented passer. Tedford will pair up with QB Kevin Riley to try to get Cal into the Rose Bowl as winners of the Pac 10.

The University of California at Berkeley first began plying football in 1886. The Golden Bears would see great success in the 1920's and 1930's when they would win numerous Pacific Coast Conference titles and 2 national championships. After more success in the '40s and '50s under coach Pappy Waldorf, the school's football program would slip into obscurity until the 1990's, and even more so under Tedford's leadership.
