In 2008 the Oregon State Beavers shocked a lot of people. After a so-so start, the Beavers took the Pac-10 by storm after a huge upset of the USC Trojans. OSU Head Coach Mike Riley might not be able to sneak up on Pac-10 foes in 2009, but his team should be just as good as it was last season. Riley's offense will be powered by the dynamic Rodgers duo, Jacquizz the star RB and James the studly wide receiver. They will be joined by senior quarterback Sean Canfield, who's experience should help the Beavers win tough road games. The Oregon State Beavers began playing collegiate football in 1893. As of Dec. 2007, the Beavers have appeared in 13 bowl games and have a stellar postseason record of 8-5. The Beavers have the distinction of playing in the 1942 Rose Bowl, which because of the attack on Pearl Harbor, was played at Duke’s Wallace Wade Stadium because of travel restrictions on the West Coast at that time. Oregon State has produced 42 All-Americans and developed such talented players recently as Derek Anderson, Mike Hass, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chad Johnson, and Steven Jackson.
The Oregon State Beavers play their home games at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon.
