2009 USC Football Preview:
Head Coach: Pete Carroll
The story of the 2009 USC Trojans will likely be the same one that has played out the last few years in the land of Troy. USC loses some of their top players to the NFL draft, including their star quarterback; only to replace them with players of equal talent and keep on rolling. USC Head Coach Pete Carroll is the envy of every college football coach in America when it comes to recruiting. Carroll stockpiles talent on the Trojans roster, like most head coaches stockpile water bottles in the locker room. The good news for Trojans fans is that Carroll doesn't just collect 5-star talent to ride the pine, he gets them on the field early and often. Much of the success that USC has had over the past decade can be attributed to a willingness to play talented, young USC recruits. The 2009 season should be no difference for USC; led by a host of all-star players they'll play great football and be in the National Championship conversation the entire season.

The USC Trojans are one of the powerhouse football programs in the Pac 10 conference. USC has been playing football since 1888, and during that time won more than 30 conference titles and 7 national championships. The Trojan program has churned out more than 140 All Americans and had 7 Heisman trophy winners (most recently: Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush).
USC competes in a tough conference, and they have numerous Pac 10 rivals trying to knock them off. Two of their biggest Pac 10 rivals are the UCLA Bruins and Cal Golden Bears. The annual grudge match between USC and UCLA is one of the best sporting events in Los Angeles. But USC also has developed a large rival outside their conference, in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. USC and Notre Dame have been playing a home-and-home series for decades, and the rivalry is one of the most storied in all college football.
USC plays their home games at The Coliseum, or also known as Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Tickets for USC home games are always a hot commodity. That's because the action at a USC game isn't just on the field. The famous USC Song Girls lead the cheers and there are often celebrities (Will Ferrell, Snoop Dogg, Nick Lachey) in the stands for big games. Fans of the Trojans celebrate all USC home victories by singing their school fight song, Fight On.
