2009 Georgia Football Preview:
Head Coach: Mark Richt
The 2009 Georgia Bulldogs will be looking to surprise some teams coming into the season. Head Coach Mark Richt lost a few of his star players on offense, including star QB Matthew Stafford, but still returns a ton of talent to Athens. If one of the Bulldogs QB prospects steps up and Caleb King comes on strong at the running back position, then things will be looking up quickly for the Dawgs. Richt has molded Georgia into a perennial SEC power, so there is no reason to believe that the 2009 season will be any different. Expect Georgia to be one of the top teams in the country and if things go right they could be in the hunt for the National Championship in late November.

Cries of "How ’bout them dogs!" will resonate throughout the stadium. At halftime, you’ll be awed by the size and power of the 375-member Redcoat band, as they continue a tradition more than 100 years old. A home game in the storied Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia is an experience you’ll never forget!
The Georgia Bulldogs first fielded a football team in 1892. The team was a founding member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA), and then moved to the Southern Conference before joining the SEC in 1932. Playing in the SEC provides the Bulldogs with some of the toughest competition in the nation. Rivalries abound. Georgia has played Auburn 110 times in "The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry". Their cross-state rivals, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, give them a tough game each year in a game known as "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate". "The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" is the annual game played between Georgia and the Florida Gators. Georgia has suited a long list of talented players. Herschel Walker, Hines Ward, and Champ Bailey are only a few. Who can forget the 1980 Sugar Bowl team led by Walker that beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 17-10 to go undefeated and win the national title?
