2009 Mississippi State Football Preview:
Head Coach: Dan Mullen
The Mississippi State Bulldogs will be breaking in a new Head Coach when the 2009 season kicks off. Gone is former Bulldog coach Sylvester Croom; replacing him is former Florida Gator offensive coordinator Dan Mullen. The position in Starkville will be the first-time that Mullen has been Head Coach of a college football program, but he has a wealth of coordinator experience from Florida and Utah. Part of Mullen's goal will be to get the excitement back in Davis Wade Stadium and to start winning some SEC games. Bulldogs fans are probably also hoping for a big win in the Egg Bowl, which would give MSU a chance to hurt the season of their big in-state rival, Ole Miss.

The next year Mississippi State would finish the season 10-2 and end up with a #12 national ranking. Mississippi State has also made history by hiring the SEC's first African-American head coach in Sylvester Croom in 2003.
