The Ole Miss Rebels are a team on the rise heading into the 2009 football season. Ole Miss's 9-4 finish in 2008 shocked much of the college football world, most of whom did not expect such a quick turnaround from Head Coach Houston Nutt. Nutt's Rebels return 16 starters from last season, including Stephenville, Texas quarterback Jevan Snead. Snead, who transferred from Texas, will lead a high powered Ole Miss offense that should be in a thorn in the side of many powerful SEC defenses. If Snead and Coach Nutt get the Rebels playing up to potential, then it's possible their fans will be cheering "hotty toddy" at the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

Ole Miss first began playing football around 1890. The Rebels achieved their first great success under head coach John Vaught. Vaught would win 6 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships and 3 national titles and coach 26 All-Americans including legendary quarterback Archie Manning. Tommy Tuberville would help bring the Rebels out of a slump and back to prominence in the 1990’s, but left the program at the height of its success to coach at rival Auburn. Some of the great players to wear the crimson and blue include Archie Manning, Ely Manning, Frank Kinnard, and Deuce McAllister.
The Ole Miss Rebels play their home games at the 60,000 capacity Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.
