2009 SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PREVIEW:
The 2009 SEC Championship Game will once again have National Title implications, with the winner likely advancing to play in the BCS Championship Game. The Florida Gators appear to be a lock to win the SEC East and Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide appear ready to emerge from the SEC West. If Florida and Alabama wind up playing each other, it will be the second consecutive year those two programs played in it. In 2008, #2 Florida beat #1 Alabama 31-20; the Gators then played in the BCS Championship Game where they won the National Championship. If the Gators and Crimson Tide match up in the '09 SEC Championship Game it will be the 7th time the two powerhouse programs have played in that game since 1992. Florida has won four of those meetings (1993, 1994, 1996, 2008) and Bama two (1992, 1999).

The 2009 Florida Gators are led by Head Coach Urban Meyer and their Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Tim Tebow. Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide are led by their defense run stopper, Terrance Cody, and a solid offense that relies on running back Mark Ingram. Both Florida and Alabama have suffocating defenses that have kept their opponents in-check all season. The 2009 SEC Championship will likely be decided by which team's offense can carry the day. Florida should have the edge because Tebow has played in a few more championship games than Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy. The intensity of the SEC Championship is on a whole other level, though, so it's impossible to know who will win the 2009 game. The only sure thing is that the 2009 SEC Championship Game is one that college football fans will be talking about for a long time.

The last three winners of the SEC Championship Game have gone on to win the BCS National Championship Game; Florida in 2006 and 2008 and the LSU Tigers in 2007. The 2009 SEC Championship will be played December 5th, 2009 in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. The game will be televised by CBS and should kickoff at 4:00pm Eastern.
