Tulane Green Wave Football Season Preview History

2011 Tulane Football Preview:
Tulane has fallen to the bottom of Conference USA in the last several years, and head coach Bob Toledo needs to prove himself this year or he may soon find himself without a job. However, the Green Wave have a number of talented returning starters, and a return to a bowl game is certainly not out of the question.

The offense will likely be centered on sophomore running back Orleans Darkwa. As a freshman, he showed great potential down the stretch and should build on that momentum heading into the 2011 season. Junior quarterback Ryan Griffin is more than capable as well, and with a number of seniors on the offensive line, there's no reason why the offense can't have a big year.

Defensively, the Green Wave will be returning a great deal of talent. Specifically, defensive end Dezman Moses and linebacker Trent Mackey will lead the way and may be among the best in the conference at their positions. The secondary will be lead by safety Shakiel Smith, who will be the final piece in a squad looking to improve from last season.

2010 Tulane Football Preview:
Anything could happen as the Tulane Green Wave football team takes the field for the start of the 2010 season. Wins may not be easy to come by in the competitive Conference USA West, but magical moments at the Louisiana Superdome could happen in any game.

This storied downtown New Orleans stadium is where the Green Wave played its home games when quarterback Shaun King led the Wave to a perfect 12-0 record, a Conference USA championship and number seven national ranking in 1998. The Superdome was also running back Matt Forte's home turf when he shattered school and conference records to reach 2,127 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2007.

Entering the new season, Tulane will rely on the accuracy of quarterback Ryan Griffin, who won the team's starting job last October. With a little more experience under his belt, Griffin should be able to improve on the 9 touchdown passes he threw last year, and the Green Wave should improve upon 2009's 3-9 overall record.

While amazing moments could happen in any of Tulane football's 12 regular season games, their November 6th matchup against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles is ripe for spectacle. This traditional game, the Battle for the Bell reunites two Conference USA rivals almost every year.

2008 Tulane Football Preview:
Head Coach: Bob Toledo
The Tulane Green Wave football team looks to be on the cusp of a new era in New Orleans. With a relatively new coach in Bob Toledo, and the resolve the program proved to have after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Green Wave is poised for a turnaround and a run at the Conference USA Championship. A game at the Superdome in New Orleans will be both a reminder of what this team has overcome and what lies ahead.
