The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have been very inconsistent in their program history in terms of appearing in bowl games. The Demon Deacons made their first two bowl appearances in the 1945 and 1948 season, but did not make it back until 30 years later in 1979. Wake Forest went over 20 years until appeared again in 1992 in the Independence Bowl. The Demon Deacons peaked in the 2000s making five bowl games. Wake Forest has made over nine bowl games, winning more than five times.
Wake Forest most memorable bowl game occurred in the 2007 Orange Bowl against the Louisville Cardinals. The Demon Deacons won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship and earned the right to play in a one of the nation’s premier bowl games. Even though Wake Forest lost the game, they finished the season with 11 wins and ranked in the top 15 nationally which still can be considered their best season in program history.

On December 30, 2011, Wake Forest squared off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Music City Bowl as both teams were trying to finish the season on a high note after mediocre seasons. The Bulldogs used a strong 2nd quarter to defeat the Demon Deacons 23-17.
