2015 West Virginia Football Preview:
The West Virginia Mountaineers had a season of near misses last year, falling in close games to Alabama, Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas A&M. The potential of the Mountaineers team was seen last season when they took down Baylor on the road, leaving West Virginia fans wondering what could have been if the team had put it all together earlier. In 2015 the high flying West Virginia offense will turn over to Junior Skylar Howard who threw for over 340 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Liberty Bowl. With weapons like Daikiel Shorts, and Jordan Thompson, the 2015 West Virginia offense should be one of the most dangerous in the country once again. The biggest question for the Mountaineers yet again in 2015 will be their defense with 7 seniors slated to start, Mountaineers fans are hoping this is the year they can put together a solid defensive outing to match their high scoring offense. The toughest games on the West Virginia Mountaineers 2015 schedule will all be on the road as WVU travels to Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, and Kansas State.

2014 West Virginia Football Preview:
The Mountaineers success in 2014 will lay heavily on the shoulders of senior quarterback Clint Trickett. Trickett amassed over 1,500 yards passing in 2013, and looks to try and double those numbers for his senior year. The offense lost outstanding running back Charles Sims to the NFL draft, and will now lean even more heavily on the passing game. West Virginia was not interested in inching into the season as they scheduled a neutral site game against Alabama in week 1. West Virginia will look for the defense to be much improved from a year ago, and for the offense to return to 2012 form. If the Mountaineers can put both of those things together, they should find themselves near the top of the Big 12 standings.

2013 West Virginia Football Preview:
After seeing their starting quarterback and top two receivers be drafted to the NFL, the West Virginia Mountaineers will be searching for the next Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, and Stedman Bailey to keep them afloat in the college football world. Head coach Dana Holgorsen has done an admirable job in his two seasons at Morgantown, winning 17 games over that span. Holgorsen will hope the depth at running back will stabilize an offense that will have a new quarterback and a new top receiver. Junior Andrew Buie, junior Dustin Garrison and Houston transfer Charles Sims will be the catalyst in the running game and should help in the passing game as well.

The Big 12 will again be one of the tougher conferences in football, and West Virginia will use the 60,000 fans packed in Mountaineer Field to their advantage when Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Texas come to Morgantown.

2011 West Virginia Football Preview:
There has been a lot of uncertainty when it comes to Big East football over the last several years, but West Virginia can always be counted on to be among the best teams in the league. With an experienced coach and a slew of returning starters, the Mountaineers are once again the favorite to win the conference title.

The offense will be led by junior quarterback Geno Smith, who has all the physical skills to be a top-notch signal caller, and will certainly not be lacking in surrounding talent. Tavon Austin, who can be called upon to play both running back and wide receiver, will be a great replacement for Noel Devine, and should provide a spark. With a number of other playmakers, one thing is for certain: West Virginia will be fun to watch.

Though the offense may put up a lot points, it remains to be seen whether the defense will be up to the task, especially given that it’s only returning four starters from last year's excellent quad. Early indications point to a reliable collection of players led by defensive end Bruce Irvin and linebacker Najee Goode. They will have to hold down a roster of defensive upstarts to make a West Virginia run at the title a possibility.

2010 West Virginia Football Preview:
After back-to-back nine-win seasons, fans of the West Virginia Mountaineers football team have to be pleased that the squad's roster is full of returning starters entering the 2010 season.

The Mountaineers are not far removed from being ranked among college football's top teams. In 2007, West Virginia started the season as the third ranked team, reached the number one position in the Coaches Poll and finished the year with a Fiesta Bowl win. After several years of steady play and plenty of experience in their returning starters, the team is ready to reach the top of the polls and the Big East Conference again.

All eyes will be on senior running back Noel Devine, who ran for 14 touchdowns and more than 1,400 yards last season. The prized rusher announced over the offseason that he would return to the Mountaineers, in lieu of entering in the NFL draft. Some of the big games in West Virginia's schedule include the home opener in the Friends of Coal Bowl against Marshall on September 10, and a showdown against Big East rival Pittsburgh in the traditional Backyard Brawl on November 26.
