Great Lakes Invitational 2011 The Great Lakes Invitational is one of the biggest College Hockey tournaments in the country. Played annually at Joe Louis Arena (Home of the Detroit Red Wings). Headlining the 2011 field is the 2007 national champion Michigan State Spartans, the 2010 national champion Boston College Eagles, Michigan Tech, and the 2011 runner-ups Michigan Wolverines. Semi-Finals will be Michigan State vs Michigan Tech, and Boston College vs Michigan. The winner of the semi-finals will meet the next night to play for the Great Lakes Invitational Championship where the winning school will automatically receive a bid to the 2012 Great Lakes Invitational Championship. Also, the winning schools banner will be hung in the Joe Louis Arena rafters until the 2012 Great Lakes Invitational. I wish all teams the best of luck...(except Michigan). Go Green.
