TAYLOR SWIFT INFORMATION:
Taylor Swift was born in the state of Pennsylvania on December 13, 1989. Taylor Swift's influences include country artist LeAnn Rimes and her maternal grandmother, who was a professional opera singer. Although her grandmother was an inspiration, Taylor's music tastes were always more inclined toward country music. At only 10 years of age Taylor started performing around her hometown singing at karaoke contests, festivals, county fairs, and even sang the national anthem for a 76ers basketball game. At 12 years of age, Taylor began writing her own songs by incorporating emotions of growing up into her music. She has written "over 200 songs" ever since she started. At 15 years old she became the youngest artist that has ever been signed on to Big Machine Records.
In the fall of 2006, her CD Taylor Swift was released. The album was a huge hit, selling more than 61,000 copies during its first week. Taylor Swift was fortunate enough to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May of 2007. She performed her hit song "Tim McGraw." She sang to Tim, who was sitting in the audience, and got to meet him for the first time. Soon after, Taylor was invited to be an opening act for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. She has also opened for famous country artists Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts and George Strait. Swift was honored with a CMA Horizon Award in November of 2007 and also performed "Our Song" which went on to become her first No. 1 song in December of 2007. She has also been nominated for the "Best New Artist" Grammy Award. Taylor's second studio album is scheduled for release in the fall of 2008 and she is expected to have at least a co-writing credit on every track.
