Dierks Bentley has become a recognizable face in the world of country music, but the singer's long road to success was paved with discouragement, rejection and an ultimate rebirth of his sound as a musician. Bentley was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and received his country music education by listening to recordings of prominent artists. This love of the genre brought him to Nashville, where he wished to pursue a singing career, but a lack of interest from major record labels made him question his chances of ever making it as a big star. Thankfully for country music fans, Bentley scored a gig with the TNN television network as a researcher, which gave him a pipeline into the industry and the spare time to continue working on his demos.

After Bentley sent out a series of his demo tapes to recording companies, it was Capitol Records who decided to take a risk on Bentley and it certainly paid off. Dierks Bentley's self-titled debut album was released in 2003 and quickly became a commercial success. The extremely catchy "What Was I Thinkin'" would be his highest-charting single to-date, reaching No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart and climbing to the top of the country music charts. The album's next two singles, "My Last Name" and "How Am I Doin'" would also chart well and would help the record achieve platinum status.

Bentley avoided the dreaded sophomore slump by coming roaring back in 2005 with Modern Day Drifter. The album would feature two No. 1 singles in "Settle for a Slowdown" and "Come a Little Closer" and would also be certified platinum. The album would lead to a number of CMA Awards and helped Bentley achieve the superstar status he craved. In 2006, Bentley turned around and dropped another successful record, Long Trip Alone, which would jump to No. 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and would prove to be another major commercial smash for the artist.

Throughout the late 2000s, Bentley would continue to crank out the hit albums, including his 2009 release Feel That Fire, which would hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and prove to be his highest-charting record to-date. In 2010, Bentley released Up on the Ridge and followed it up with Home in 2012. As one of the biggest names in country music, Dierks Bentley shows no signs of slowing down and has many great years in front of him.
