Eric Church made it in the business the old fashioned way, moving to Nashville with a few bucks and a guitar. These days, he’s showing off his Nashville home on CMT’s “Cribs.”
Church is one of the most refreshing singers in the contemporary country music industry, and while his musical career is similar to other artists, he has experienced a few speed bumps along the way. Church was known for his musical talent ever since the age of 13 when he began to write songs and taught himself to play the guitar. During his time at Appalachian State University, Church formed a band called the Mountain Boys, which frequently toured across North Carolina, giving Church his first taste of the limelight.
Signed by Capitol Nashville, Church released his first album Sinners Like Me that led to three Top 20 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country chart. His debut single was “How Bout You,” which reached #14 and led to his first nationwide tour and appearance on the stage at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. Most recently, his 2011 album Chief went gold after only six weeks.
Church is known for exciting live shows and interacting with fans more than your usual performer. The 34-year old was once booted from a tour with the Rascal Flats for playing too long, being replaced by then-unknown Taylor Swift.
