In the country music world there are a large number of up-and-coming artists rising through the ranks, but few are more promising than Jason Aldean. The 33-year-old Georgia native has been a mainstay on country radio since his debut album in 2005, and does not appear to be slowing down any time soon.
Aldean got his start at a relatively young age - he began performing with his band at local clubs throughout Atlanta after he graduated from high school. It was during this time that he was discovered by talent scout, and he promptly moved to Nashville, Tennessee. Despite the relocation, Aldean failed to gain traction, and it was not until he returned home to Georgia that his career took off.
His self-titled debut album was released in July 2005, and it was an immediate success. The album would eventually become certified platinum, and the first single, "Hicktown," reached number 10 on the Billboard country charts. That song was followed by "Why," which earned the top spot, and "Amarillo Sky," which peaked at number four. Thank to the wide-spread popularity of his debut, Aldean was named "Top New Male Vocalist" for 2006 by the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Fresh off the success of his first album, Aldean released his follow-up, Relentless, in May of 2007. While his first release was a large success in the country world, Relentless enjoyed crossover fame as well. It debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 charts, and featured the hit singles "Johnny Cash" and "Laughed Until We Cried," both of which were top-10 hits.
His third release, Wide Open, was just as popular has previous two. The album received generally favorable reviews from critics, and Aldean scored a trio of number one hits with the lead singles "She's Country," "Big Green Tractor," and "The Truth," all topping the Billboard country charts. The fourth single from Wide Open, "Crazy Town," also rose up the charts, peaking at number two.
Aldean's most recent endeavor, My Kinda Party, was released in November 2010 and features the single of the same name. With just five years under his belt, Aldean has become one of the most popular country artists performing today. With 10 hit singles already to his name, Aldean will likely be a force in the genre for years to come.
