The dream of making it big in Nashville is one that draws musicians to the town year after year. One of them was Sara Evans, who arrived in 1991, left, and returned again in 1995. Evans remained this time, cutting some demos that impressed one of the town's famous songwriting talents, Harlan Howard. He helped her sign with RCA Nashville, and her first album arrived in 1997.
That album, Three Chords and the Truth, made a splash for Sara Evans. Three Chords and the Truth earned praise for a return to the classic Nashville sound when most modern country music had drifted away. That sound was attributable to Harlan Howard, who had decades of country music songwriting experience under his belt. The critical praise didn't translate into big returns at the record store. The album peaked at #56 on Billboard's Country Album charts.
Evans returned shortly with her sophomore effort: No Place That Far. This album turned back towards country's mainstream, and resulted in Evan's first #1 hit, the title track from the album. While some fans preferred the classic country sound of her first album, No Place That Far peaked at #11 and was certified Gold, a big improvement for Evans.
Evans' sound continued to evolve with her third album. Born to Fly arrived in 2000 and solidified her place in country music. The album spawned 3 top 5 hits, including the #1 title track. It earned Evans her first Platinum certification, one that would later double as sales continued. The following year Evans earned 7 Country Music Association Awards nominations for the album.
As the decade continued, Evans continued to be a proven hitmaker. Her next two albums Restless and Real Fine Place both spawned #1 singles and both achieved Platinum certification. Real Fine Place earned Evans her first #1 on the Country Album charts. Evans worked on a number of projects in the later part of the decade, including writing books and doing some television, such as Nashville Star.
She returned with a new album in 2011, Stronger. The first single from Stronger hit #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart before the album even came out. "A Little Bit Stronger" hit radio airwaves in September of 2010, becoming a Platinum seller. Building off the momentum from the single, the album became her second #1 in spring of 2011.
Evans tours regularly, performing before fans in front of packed houses all around the country. Her shows are praised for the passion she pours into every performance. Get your tickets for this can't miss country star.
