Governors Ball Music Festival Information:
Location: Randall's Island, NY.
Founded: 2011
Dates: June 8-9, 2013

In 2011 the independent festival promotion company Founders Entertainment set out to create a music festival that New Yorkers could call their own. The result was The Governors Ball Music Festival. In its inaugural year the festival took place on June 18, 2011 at Governors Island in New York City featuring an intense one-day lineup that included the likes of Girl Talk, Big Boi, Mac Miller and many other highly rated performers. The 2011 debut of the Governors Ball amassed the highest attendance for any other event at Governors Island solidifying its annual recurrence.

Due to popular demand and exponential growth the festivals second year in the works made its way to the current home on Randall's Island and included acts from high profile artists like Beck, Passion Pit, Kid Cudi, Modest Mouse, Explosions in The Sky, and Fiona Apple. The festivals second edition also introduced even more appeals to the already popular menu bringing on a multitude of popular New York City restaurants and food trucks.

Along with enjoying the Gov Ball's impressive lineup year after year the festival also features a slew of lawn games such as corn-hole, ladder golf, croquet, Ping-Pong, and silent disco. The Governors Ball Music Festival has become the product of an extremely well executed event bringing all the necessities of what a first-class music fest should be. Though it is young in comparison to a lot of the top music festivals in the mix the Gov Ball has staked its claim becoming one of the premier stops in the music festival lineup.

Govball celebrates NYC's diversity! One of the things that attracts me most to NYC is its musical diversity, and Govball does a excellent job of showcasing a variety of talent! Each stage is easy to get too and you rarely feel packed being in a crowd. The food was amazing, from brick oven pizza to tacos and chinese to cheese fries! The staff was very friendly, plenty of places to just relax, and plenty of other things to do! The only aspects which Govball could improve upon would be the restrooms. They should get more bathrooms to compensate for the large amount of people. Besides that, everything else was great, and I made lots of amazing memories I will have with me for the rest of my life! I had a wonderful time at Govball this year and I can't wait until the next! Keep up those fun o' meters! June 10, 2014
