Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem, has been on top of the rap world for more than a decade. While controversy has followed him nearly every step of the way, he helped usher in a new generation of fans and has somewhat transcended the genre, appealing to fans of all kinds and making his way into films and television.
Though a rap superstar now, that was certainly not always the case. Eminem worked in the industry for several years before he released his second album, The Slim Shady LP, in 1999, and his career took off. With a knack for pushing boundaries, Eminem quickly found a devoted fan base thanks to tracks such as "My Name Is" and "Guilty Conscience." He was soon a mainstay on MTV, and the record was an instant hit with critics as well, something which would prove to follow Eminem over the next several years.
Not long after his breakout success, Eminem released the The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000, an album which took him to all new levels of popularity. Many people believe the record is one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time, and they certainly aren't far off. With a slew of hit tracks, including the infectiously catchy anthem "The Real Slim Shady" and the introspective "The Way I Am," the album was an instant classic. Perhaps most noteworthy, however, is the deeply serious song "Stan," which some consider to be the best song of the 2000s - of any genre.
The Eminem Show hit shelves in 2002 and was another big hit, garnering numerous awards and featuring popular songs including "Without Me" and "Cleaning out My Closet." After another hit album (Encore) and popular film (8 Mile) Eminem began to step back from spotlight, only to come back with a vengeance several years later.
The hit album Relapse hit stores in 2009, and while it signaled a return to form it was his follow-up, 2010's Recovery, that proved he still had it. With songs like "Love the Way You Lie," which features a heartbreaking chorus by Rihanna, and the epic "Not Afraid," it is hard to deny Eminem his place in the annals of rap history and that he will go down as one of the all-time greats.

Puts on the best concerts!!! I have seen Eminem in concert almost every time he has come to the Southern California area. My first show was the "Smoke Out Tour" that was once in a lifetime expierence. By far my favorite show was his "Anger Management" concert in Devore where we sat Orchastra seating, 13 rows from the stage. Just Amazing. The last show I saw was him at the K-Roq Epicenter Fest. That was also good, but the crowd was pushing and shoving making it hard to see him and feel comfortable watching his show. and not enough of him performing being that he hasn't put on a show for us So Cals in a really long time. =( But i do love "M" and i'm just grateful I got to see him live once again. I am 30 years old now and as long as he continues performing I will stand behind the best Rap Artist ever. I will be rockin' out to him in the front row when I'm 50. He is that good.
