Other: Originally an actress on the Australian TV soap Neighbours.

Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue has certainly done it all in her lengthy career. Although she got her start as a child actress in the early '80s, the blonde bombshell managed to make a seamless transition into a singer, and more than 20 years after her first single hit the airwaves, she remains a popular act throughout much of the world.

Minogue began her career in show business playing roles on several well-known Australian shows. She was cast as one of the leads in The Henderson Kids, and later in the popular soap opera Neighbors.

However, it was clear that she wanted to try her hand at music, and after recording several demo tapes and performances, she got her big break with her 1987 version of the classic song "The Loco-Motion," which eventually peaked at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The single was an immediate hit in Australia and became one of the most popular songs of the decade. Encouraged by the success of her first foray into music, Minogue released her debut full-length album, Kylie, in July of 1988. Along with "The Loco-Motion," the album produced a string of hits including "I Should Be So Lucky" that were popular from Australia to the U.K., and has sold more than 7.5 million copies worldwide.

While her follow up album, 1989's Enjoy Yourself, failed to gain significant traction in the states, it was still a favorite in Australia and the United Kingdom - where it was certified four times platinum. As Minogue entered the 1990s, she was determined to shed the girl next door image she had worked at cultivating during the last several years, and her third album, 1990's Rhythm of Love, showed the difference.

Despite her early string of successes, Minogue's popularity waned throughout much of the '90s, and she left many fans around the world wondering when she would make a comeback. However, that question was answered at the turn of the century when she released Fever in 2001. The album marked a return to prominence across the globe, thanks in large part to popular tune "Can't Get You Out of My Head."

More than 25 years after she burst on the scene, Minogue remains a popular act, as evidenced by her most recent release, 2010's Aphrodite. She has battled the ups and downs of a career as well as the trials of breast cancer, but nothing can slow down Minogue.
