Since the beginning of the 2000s, not many rock bands have enjoyed as much as success as Maroon 5. With charismatic frontman Adam Levine at the helm, the Los Angeles-based band has released a string of popular albums, and with a dedicated fan base and an exciting stage presence they certainly are not going anywhere soon.
Maroon 5 was originally known as Kara's Flowers, but, after one album and a quick lineup change, they settled on their now-famous moniker, a move which proved to be extremely smart. After toiling in obscurity for several years, the band released their debut album, Song About Jane, in 2002.
The record was a huge success and became one of the most popular records of the year, eventually cracking the top 10 on the Billboard 200 charts and being certified multi-platinum in several countries. It's no surprise that is was so popular as it featured a number of catchy tracks including "Harder to Breathe," "She Will Be Loved" and "This Love," and "Sunday Morning," all of which enjoyed substantial success on the charts.
After years of relentless touring, Maroon 5's popularity only continued to grow, but it was several years before they could release a new album. The result was 2006's It Won't Be Soon Before Long, which was even more popular than it's predecessor, debuting at number one on the Billboard charts. Propelled by Levine's iconic voice, the record highlights included the singles "Wake Up Call," "Wont' Go Home Without You" and "Makes Me Wonder," all of which received considerable radio airplay.
Encouraged by the success of their sophomore album, Maroon 5 went on the road once again. And once again fans would have to wait several years before Levine and the gang would release a new album. The wait was over in 2010, when the band's third record, Hands All Over hit stores. Thanks to favorable reviews from critics and hit singles such as "Misery," the album debuted at number two.
There are not many rock bands around today who can match the sound of Maroon 5. Whether it be the smooth voice of their lead singer or the easy-to-listen-to melodies, the quintet certainly has shown that it has staying power.
