Other: Paul is most famous for being part of the Beatles and he later formed the group Wings.
He is widely known as one of the most popular musicians of all time, and although he is almost 70-years-old, Sir Paul McCartney remains an iconic figure in the music world. Whether it's his legendary work with The Beatles or the lengthy solo career that followed, fans are sure to be listening to McCartney's music for years to come.
Though his most indelible mark on the music world is likely his stint as one of the Fab Four, after the band broke up in 1970, McCartney was not reticent to push forward. Soon after the split, he released his first solo album in 1970, the aptly titled McCartney. Though it was his first foray into a solo career, it was an immediate success. The record reached the top of the pop charts in the United States and peaked at number two in the United Kingdom. It was widely praised by critics due to the fact that McCartney played every instrument on the album.
By 1971, McCartney paired with Denny Laine and Denny Seiwell to form Wings, which became a wildly successful band over the next 10 years. The group released its first album later that year with Wild Life. The record only found lukewarm reception from critics, but two years later, Wings hit it big.
In 1973 the band released a pair of albums. The second one, Band on the Run, is widely considered to be McCartney's best post-Beatles production. The album eventually went triple platinum and its title track was a number one hit and is one of the most popular Wings songs of all time.
In the wake of Band on the Run, Wings continued to release popular hits and toured extensively throughout the globe. However, by 1981 they amicably broke up.
Though Wings disbanded, McCartney kept performing throughout the '80s. Along with the famous duet "Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder, McCartney also recorded "Say Say Say" with Michael Jackson. Into the '90s, he remained a very active member of the recording industry, and demonstrated his compositional skills by arranging a number of classical music albums.
Over the last 10 years, McCartney has not slowed down. In addition to performing at the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXIX, he continues to tour relentlessly, playing hits from his time with The Beatles, Wings and during his solo career that have been listened to for generations.

By Far The Best Show I've seen I went to see Paul McCartney at Yankee Stadium and it was an amazing show. He did songs from The Beatles, Wings, and his solo stuff. He did Live and Let Die there was a fire works show and it was amazing display. there were flames on the stage and it was great. He would stop in between songs and tell funny little stories. It was great, and by far the best show i've ever seen February 16, 2012
I grew up with the Beatles! This was the third time I have been to a McCartney concert. I was blown-away at how good the concert was. Paul seemed to have had more energy than ever, and his band was first rate! The show went off without any problems at all. I will never forget this concert, it was that good! August 6, 2011
