Roger Daltrey's position in rock history is quite secure. As lead singer of The Who, his contributions to the genre will never be forgotten and have earned him a spot in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Daltrey did not stop making music after The Who broke up in the early 80s. His passion for music continued, tempered with his affinity for acting. Daltrey was no stranger to solo recording efforts while with The Who, either.

Daltrey released his first, self-titled solo album in 1973. He recorded it while The Who were on a break from touring. It charted a couple hits, strongest among them was "Giving It All Away," which reached #5 on the UK charts. A second solo effort, 1975's Ride a Rock Horse, was one of his more successful solo albums, and perhaps somewhat notable for the cover depicting Daltrey as a centaur.

Daltrey's next solo album, McVicar, was the sound track to the film of the same name he both produced and starred in. All members of The Who played on the album, but did not write any of the songs. McVicar is considered by some to be part of The Who's catalog.

Once The Who broke up, Daltrey turned his attention to solo projects as well as acting. Of the solo albums Daltrey released in the mid-80s, 1985's Under a Raging Moon was the most successful. The album was a tribute to deceased Who drummer Keith Moon. The album charted one single: "After the Fire."

Releasing only one more solo album in 1992, Daltrey continued performing live and working with surviving Who members, reuniting on a number of occasions. More recently, he toured with the "No Plan B" band in 2009 and 2010. Whether solo or in front of some of the most well-known band-mates in rock history, this "god of rock" can always be counted on to put on a great show.
