He was born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner and became a bus conductor, tax officer and teacher… but the world knows him as simply, Sting. A nickname he picked up based on a yellow and black sweater he wore to a jazz gig. Sting wears many hats, from actor to singer to activist to multi-instrumentalist, and has 18 Grammys as both a solo artist and the lead singer of the rock band The Police. The album, Synchronicity and the single, “Every Breath You Take,” gave the band one of many big hits in the 80’s, but shortly thereafter the band broke up. As a solo artist, Sting’s first album released his first hit, “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free.” Other hits to follow were, “Fields Of Gold” and “Desert Rose.” Sting hits the tour stage February 2014, with folk singer Paul Simon.
