Avril Lavigne began singing at a young age in church. It was at the age of only 14 when she won a contest to sing with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain on her first major tour. She was singing country music covers in a local bookstore when she was discovered by her first professional manager. Her first album, Let Go, was released in 2002 and since then has released two more, Under My Skin in 2004, and her most recent, The Best Damn thing 2006, which she is currently touring.
Avril has also hit the big screen with a voice over in the animated film, Over The Hedge where she worked with great actors such as Bruce Willis and Nick Nolte. Avril Lavigne is currently working on a film with Richard Gere, The Flock, due in theatres October 2007.
