INTERPOL EXPERIENCE:
Interpol is a rock band from New York City that formed in 1998. They are considered one of the post-punk “Indie” rock bands that defined the New York music scene starting in early 2000. The band is often compared with 80’s new wave bands such the Psychedelic Furs, Echo and the Bunnymen, and perhaps most often Joy Division. Interpol’s live shows are characterized by eerie synthesizers, angular guitar work, an impressive rhythm section, and blinding light shows. Interpol has drawn packed crowds in support of their album, Our love to Admire.
Interpol is made up of Paul Banks (vocals, guitar), Daniel Kessler (guitar), Carlos Dengler (bass/keys) and Sam Fogarino (drums). The band met at New York University, and after recording their first demo, signed to Matador Records, one of the premier independent labels in the US. Interpol was part of the resurging rock scene in New York that included the Strokes, the Liars, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Matador released Interpol’s first two albums, Turn on the Bright Lights (2002) and Antics (2004). Interpol then signed to major label, Capitol Records, for its 2007 release, Our Love to Admire.
