Sports in Denver
Though it is home to teams from all four major sports, the Denver Broncos are the flagship franchise in the city. With a pair of Super Bowl championships in the early '90s, the Broncos firmly cemented themselves as one of the best teams in the league, thanks in no small part to iconic players like John Elway and Terrell Davis. The Broncos also have one of the best stadiums in the NFL, Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Broncos have played there since 2001, and it offers a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains and is one of the best places in the league to watch a game.
While the Broncos may be the most famous team, they are certainly not the only ones to call Denver home. The Colorado Rockies also play home games in the city at famous Coors Field, which yields plenty of home runs thanks to the thin air. The stadium has been home to the Rockies since 1995 and features the Blue Moon Brewery at The Sandlot in addition to the park's friendly confines.
The Colorado Avalanche of the NHL play their home games nearby as well at the Pepsi Center. Ever since moving to Denver from Quebec in 1995, the Avalanche have been a favorite among local residents, even delivering a Stanley Cup in their first year there. The Avalanche share the Pepsi Center with the Denver Nuggets of the NBA.
