AUSTIN - When the Longhorns clash with the Buckeyes, loyal fans will be there cheering them on.
"Yeah - actually all the grad students I know are going. They all have season passes," says UT Graduate student Lonissa Nguyen.
But a quick check of craigslist shows hundreds and hundreds of ads with tickets still for sale.
Jonathan Panzer posted an. In fact, he has been posting it for a couple of weeks. The initial price of $400 per ticket has dropped dramatically.
"Hoping for $250, but it's looking more like $200 apiece. Which I'll be happy with. I'll be happy just to get rid of them at this point," Panzer says.
"I think the economy's got a lot to do with it. There's a lot of people that haven't had such a great year and they're kind of on wait and see what's going to happen next year. So that probably affects it a lot," says Todd North.
But Alan Holtzman, who says he bleeds burnt orange, has a different view.
"They're just mad. They're mad that we're not going to Miami. They think we got cheated and they're pouting," says Holtzman.
Holtzman is picking up his tickets at TicketCity, a local Austin agency, where tickets are going as low as $50 a seat.
"I think we'll see a few empty seats in the place and that's why they're going for below face value," says Randy Cohen.
But the money you save on bowl tickets might be eaten up on the plane flight. There are no return flights from Southwest Airlines on Tuesday. And fares on other airlines run about $500.
