TicketCity Reveals the Top 25 Hottest College Football Games for Week 9
SEC teams dominate this week’s hottest games list while Texas slips from the number one spot mirroring their slide in AP rankings.
Austin, TX (BusinessWire – October 12, 2009) – We’re halfway into the season and much debate surrounds the route to the BCS Championship. Can Florida stay on top as Alabama slides past Texas, and Virginia Tech trails closely behind? SEC fans are driving demand up not only for regular season games but also the championship. SEC teams dominate TicketCity’s top 25 ticket list, playing in 5 of the top 10 games and 11 of the top 25 overall. Fans are not only scrambling for tickets to the remaining games, but are also looking to the championship as well. “Last week the SEC Championship game was the top event term to be searched on our website,” says Randy Cohen, CEO of TicketCity. “With Alabama and Florida poised to play each other, tickets are in high demand by fans and aren’t likely to move from the current average cost of $425.” For the last two weeks the Red River Shootout between Oklahoma and Texas held the number one spot on the hottest game list. This week, however, the matchup falls to number four as Texas slips to number three in the AP poll. “Despite the slide in the polls, ticket demand for the Texas/OU game is still huge,” states Rafael Rivas, Vice President of Sales for TicketCity. “In fact 15% of our total sales for the event occurred just today.” USC at Notre Dame tops the list this week as the big rivalry draws nearer. Though both teams have suffered losses, the rivalry is enough to keep demand stable. “Notre Dame fans are excited to host a big rival on their home turf,” comments Rivas. At an average cost of $415 per ticket, the game is at the cheapest price it has been all season. “Fans looking to purchase tickets have a good opportunity this week to find better values,” concludes Rivas. TicketCity releases this week's list of the top 25 hottest games of the 2009 regular college football season based on average ticket price. The list was accumulated by compiling a majority of the available tickets on the secondary market throughout the entire country. The secondary market is comprised of over 800 established ticket brokers, and fans who are listing extra tickets to sell.
Prices will continue to fluctuate throughout the 2009 season and TicketCity will continue to update the hottest games list from week to week.
