AUSTIN, TX (BusinessWire – October 8, 2009) –
Partnering for the first time, TicketCity

are excited to welcome fans from across the nation to the San Antonio Showdown
between Notre Dame and Washington State on October 31st
. The showdown will not only feature the Saturday game but the San Antonio Showdown Pregame Party in the Sunset Station Pavilion. TicketCity secures the San Antonio Showdown sponsorship with other college football
sponsorships expected to be announced next week. “Any chance we have to meet our clients and football fans face-to-face is a valuable one,” says Amy Carpenter Vice President of Marketing for TicketCity. “By partnering with the Alamo Bowl for a premiere event such as the Notre Dame - Washington State matchup, we’re not only able to provide college football fans ticketing services, but also let them learn a little more about us, including our people and our personality. Fans realize we’re just as passionate as they are about football, and that makes for a pretty good time for us all."
“The Valero Alamo Bowl is pleased to partner with an industry leader like TicketCity to promote this year’s San Antonio Showdown,” said Valero Alamo Bowl President/CEO Derrick Fox, “We’re excited to host this game and appreciative of TicketCity’s support that will help us make it a special experience for all of the fans attending from the two teams.”
Notre Dame fans traveling to San Antonio
will have a distance to cover, but the Valero Alamo Bowl was chosen to host the first of a series of Notre Dame home game being played outside of South Bend. “With this game in San Antonio, Notre Dame will start a tradition of moving one home game out of state each year and we greatly value the opportunity to join in hosting what will be a lifetime experience for college football fans in San Antonio,” comments Randy Cohen, founder and CEO of TicketCity. The partnership was especially attractive to TicketCity because of the convenient destination and fanfare surrounding the game. “San Antonio is practically in our backyard, just a quick hour down the road, and we want to strengthen TicketCity’s involvement with our sister community,” says Cohen.
Since its inception in 1993, the Valero Alamo Bowl has hosted nearly one million spectators at 16 bowl games, as well as another 350,000 fans as a neutral site for games such as Texas A&M vs. Army in 2006 and the 2007 Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship. Factoring in the out-of-town fans, the games have resulted in over $215 million worth of direct economic impact on San Antonio and another $18 million in measurable media exposure from the 107 million viewers watching the national television broadcasts.
In addition to this year’s San Antonio Showdown, the Valero Alamo Bowl will take place on Saturday, January 2 and feature teams from the Big 12 and Big Ten conferences.
