TicketCity Reveals Top 25 Hottest College Football Games for Week 5
Despite poll shakeups, fans remain loyal and keep ticket costs fairly steady
AUSTIN, TX (BusinessWire – September 27, 2010) The fifth week of football begins with fans still stunned from this past weekend’s games as well as the changes in the polls that ultimately test fan patience and dedication. Some new games join the top 25 list however, the most in-demand games remain fairly steady with rank and ticket prices. TicketCity has this week’s Top 25 games of the season, which shows the most anticipated games and matchups as indicated by ticket sales, prices, customer inquiries, and searches on TicketCity.com.
The biggest upset surrounds Texas after their surprising loss against unranked UCLA. The Longhorns dropped from number seven in the Associated Press poll to 21. The drop in the polls has caused ticket prices to slightly decrease for this weekend’s matchup against Oklahoma. Average ticket prices for this game are $453, however TicketCity.com has tickets starting at $187. Demand remains steady for the October 16th matchup against Nebraska. Average ticket prices for this game start at $553 with TicketCity selling tickets starting at $301.
“It’s hard for fans to watch a highly ranked team like Texas drop drastically in the polls. But that’s what’s great about Texas - their fan base is fiercely loyal. Demand for the Red River Rivalry is still strong as fans are looking forward to supporting Texas through the season,” says Randy Cohen, TicketCity CEO.
In addition to the Red River Rivalry occurring this weekend, Florida at Alabama is a high demand matchup. Last year, these two teams went head to head during the SEC Championship game which the Crimson Tide won and later went on to win the BCS title. Alabama still sits at the top of the rankings, however, don't count Florida out as they played a solid game last week and are ready to prove that they are a serious BCS contender this year. Average ticket prices are $358 but TicketCity.com has tickets starting at $184.
Each week, TicketCity counts down the most popular games of the season, as evidenced by ticket sales, prices, customer inquiries, and search on TicketCity.com.
