TicketCity Reveals the Top 25 College Football Games for Week 4

TicketCity Reveals the Top 25 Hottest College Football Games for Week 4

Despite close games and surprising losses of opening weekend, average ticket prices for the Top 25 games held fairly steady while a few newcomers make the list.

Austin, TX (BusinessWire – September 8, 2009) – College football fans surviving the eight long months of no football were treated to several exciting games during the kickoff weekend for the 2009 season. Close calls and surprising upsets for a few ranked teams affected fans and some ticket prices. Ohio State squeaked by influencing the cost of their upcoming game while Georgia and Oklahoma maintain their strong presence in the most in-demand games of the season.

Despite the losses incurred by Georgia and Oklahoma, the Georgia at Florida and Oklahoma at Texas games remain in the number four and five spots. “Prices often take awhile to react to surprise losses,” states Zach Anderson, COO for TicketCity. “In the instance of Georgia and Oklahoma, the games that featured them as the dominant team have dropped but the games in which they battle other strong teams such as Florida and Texas, prices haven’t faltered. These are both big rivalries and if fans from one team stop buying, fans from the other will make up the difference.”

The only game scheduled for this weekend to make the Top 25 list is the USC at Ohio State game. The non-conference matchup which topped the first Top 25 list of the season at an average ticket price of $842 is now ranked 8th at $325 per ticket. “Though Ohio State escaped a potential upset to Navy on Saturday, their performance greatly affected prices,” comments Rafael Rivas, VP of Sales for TicketCity. “The demand cooled in the last week then plummeted after the Buckeyes performance on Saturday. It will still be a great game and fans holding out to purchase tickets will be able to find better values.” The outcome of the USC at Ohio State game has the potential to shake up ticket demand on a national level.

Another game scheduled for this weekend that will affect ticket demand depending on the outcome is the Notre Dame at Michigan game. While the game itself didn’t make the Top 25 list, Notre Dame is in four of the top games. “Notre Dame’s legacy and tradition always make for a strong turnout at home games,” adds Rivas. “The outcome of this weekend’s games will shake up ticket demand for the season going forward.”

TicketCity releases this week's list of the top 25 hottest games of the 2009 regular college football season based on average ticket price. The list was accumulated by compiling a majority of the available tickets on the secondary market throughout the entire country. The secondary market is comprised of over 800 established ticket brokers, and every fan who is listing extra tickets to sell.
