2011 Indy 500 Preview:
We’re wondering what’s bigger—the 253-acre Indianapolis Motor Speedway—or the fact it’s the Indy 500’s 100th anniversary at the famed track. Whichever it is, going to the 2011 edition of The Greatest Spectacle in Racing will be a star-studded affair. Even the National Anthem is going to be a bigger deal—Seal and Kelly Clarkson will be singing a duet before the almost 400,000 screaming fans.
For those fans viewing pleasure, the field of 33 will include five previous winners: Dan Wheldon, Dario Franchitti, Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon and Buddy Rice. Representatives from fifteen different countries will also be racing in Indy. Along with the US, UK, Brazilian, Canadian and Australian drivers, the 500 will have representatives from Belgium, Colombia, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Venezuela and for the first time, China.
As for who will be drinking milk in the winner’s circle, obviously the previous winners are all candidates. Franchitti above all is the favorite, but dark-horse candidates like Will Power, Bruno Junqueira and Alex Tagliani will make the centennial race at Indianapolis one to remember for more than the year it was run.

Dario Franchitti wins the 94th Indianapolis 500, finishing 1st ahead of Dan Wheldon who finished 2nd and Marco Andretti, who finished 3rd.
2010 Indy 500 Preview:
The 94th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 30 - on the traditional Memorial Day weekend - at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. As the racing field is announced, motorsport fans are gearing up for their trip to Indiana to enjoy what will be the premier event of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series season. In 2010, at least 34 drivers - including some up and coming racers and former winners - will launch their IndyCars on the Speedway.
Previous winners Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon will lead the field. In addition, four female drivers will participle in this year's race, including noted driver Danica Patrick, Simona De Silvestro, Milka Duno and Sarah Fisher.
John Andretti is the most senior driver entering the Indy 500, having previously entered 10 of the 500-mile races on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Among his competitors is 19-year-old Sebastian Saavedra, the youngest driver who is attempting to make the prestigious field. For an added thrill, race fans can watch Robin Roberts, the anchor of ABC's Good Morning America pilot the pace car at this year's event.
2009 Indy 500 Results:
The first race of Indy's 3 year Centennial Era celebration (leading up to the race's 100th anniversary in 2011), sees Brazilian Hélio Castroneves take the win. Castroneves began the race on the pole, though Australian Scott Dixon lead for more slightly more laps overall, 73 to Castroneves' 66. Castroneves adds a 3rd Indy win to his previous two in 2001 and 2002.
2009 Indy 500 Preview:
The 2009 Indy 500 auto race is going to be an event to remember. The race will mark the three-year Centennial celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 and the Indianapolis 500 Speedway. For auto racing fanatics, the event will be both historic and competitive. The tentatively scheduled pace car for the race will be a Chevrolet Corvette, and the tentative starting command will be announced by Mari Hulman George. The race will be televised live on ABC. Be on the lookout for big names to participate, including: Marco Andretti, Dario Franchitti and Danica Patrick.
