It's known by a lot of different names like Tinsel Town and the City of Angels. But one thing is for sure: there's no city out there quite like Los Angeles. The bustling metropolis of the entertainment industry, L.A. is certainly not at a loss for things to do. With innumerable options in terms of music, sports and culture, the city will leave vacationers feeling spent by the time their visit is over.
Although it has not been home to an NFL team since the Raiders left for Oakland, Los Angeles still has plenty to offer when it comes to sports. The city is home to two baseball teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the latter of which won the World Series in 2002. The Dodgers have called Dodger Stadium home since 1962, making it one of the most iconic parks in the MLB, and its more than 56,000 capacity makes it the largest in terms of potential audience.
As for basketball, L.A. is home to one of the most famous franchises in the sports, the Los Angeles Lakers, who won five NBA titles between 2000 and 2010. The Lakers also share their home, the Staples Center, with the Clippers who, while not as decorated as their cross-city rivals, still put on an exciting show thanks to players such as Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin.
Two NHL teams also play in L.A., with the Los Angeles Kings calling the Staples Center home as well, and the Anaheim Ducks playing at the nearby Honda Center.
While sports is a big draw in Los Angeles, it is definitely not the only one. The city is a hub music and culture, and you'll likely be able to find a show for whatever genre you're looking for. The Walt Disney Concert Hall is one of the most uniquely designed buildings in the country, and is the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra.
Finally, a trip to LA wouldn’t be complete without a drive or walk down the Sunset Strip. The famous street is rife with venues, including the House of Blues and the Roxbury Theatre–a historically hip hangout that has hosted the likes of Neil Young, John Lennon and Alice Cooper. The home of such classic rock luminaries should be a classically rocking way to end your time in the City of Angels.
