The Cubs are one of baseball’s oldest franchises, tracing their tradition back to the 1870s. The early years of Chicago baseball were relatively successful. In 1885 and 1886 the then-White Stockings tied and lost in back-to-back World Series behind player/manager Cap Anson. At the turn of the century, Chicago found a reason to celebrate. The Cubs made four World Series in a five-year span, winning their only two titles in 1907 and 1908. Chicago has frequently put together very good teams, but has not achieved that elusive third World Series title. After five World Series appearances between 1929 and 1945, the Cubs suffered through a long playoff drought spanning 38 seasons. Finally, behind star second baseman Ryne Sandberg, the Cubs won the NL East in 1984, but were knocked out of the playoffs in the NLCS by the San Diego Padres. Sandberg made the playoffs once more in 1989, then Sammy Sosa led the Cubs to two playoff appearances in 1998 and 2003, but each time Chicago failed to advance to the World Series. The Cubs most recent playoff appearances were in 2007 and 2008, when in both seasons they lost in the Division Series round. Chicago has retired the numbers of six players from the club’s long history. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Chicago Cubs baseball tickets.
2015 Chicago Cubs Season Preview
The 2014 season was another disappointing year for the Chicago Cubs. Chicago finished with a 73-89 record, leaving them under the. 500 mark for the 5th straight season. During the season the Cubs sent many of their top players away in hopes of building for the future, including ace pitcher Jeff Samardzija. But Cubs fans have a lot to look forward to in the 2015 MLB Season. The historic Wrigley Field is receiving major renovations that should make the stadium better than ever.
Also new for the Chicago Cubs in 2015 is the addition of Jon Lester. Lester has been one of the most dominate post season pitchers in the history of baseball and will look to help guide the young Cubs to a deep run into October. Chicago also brought back pitcher Jason Hammel, as well as Miguel Montero and Donn Roach. It will be hard to bet against the Cardinals to take the NL Central again in 2015, but don’t count these Cubs out. The leadership and talent of Lester might be just what the doctor ordered to push the Chicago Cubs back into the MLB Post Season.

Cubs Cardinals is one of the best sporting events in the country. Fittingly the clubs first met in the 1885 World Series, and have been battling back and forth ever since. Both teams are in the top 5 in NL pennants and are two of the most accomplished clubs in baseball. This is one of the few original rivalries that has remained a divisional rivalry throughout realignment. Attending a game in this series is on the list of every baseball fan, and a highlight of every season.
Cubs vs. White Sox
No baseball rivalry has divided a town like Cubs-White Sox. Known as the Crosstown Classic, residents of Chicago are broken up into two categories “North Siders” and “South Siders” based solely on allegiance to one of these teams. Played over 100 times since the first meeting in the 1906 World Series, this series is separated by only a few games. Baseball fans in the Midwest know this as one of the most fun matchups in interleague play, and it is probably the most exciting inner-city rivalry in baseball.
Cubs vs. Brewers
While many of the Cubs Rivalries are over a century old, the rivalry with the Brewers has only been around about a decade. The Brewers moved from the American League to the National League Central in 1998 and have been battling with the Cubs ever since. The rivalry really took off with both teams at the top of the division in the late 2000’s. Since then the Brewers and Cubs have very evenly matched, with the overall series only separated by only a few games.
Chicago Cubs in the World Series, National League Championship Series and MLB Playoffs
As one of the original two charter members in the National League, the Chicago Cubs have been around since 1876. The Cubs have won two World Series titles in their history, but they haven’t won a championship since 1907. This drought is the longest current streak in North American sports. Throughout their history, they have won over 15 NL pennants and 4+ division titles and will look to add to that number in upcoming seasons.

Chicago is a great experience... Was heading to Chicago for some personal time with my family when we decided to see a Cubs game. It was our first and it was one of the best experience we have ever had. Wrigley field is truly one of a kind and the people there are incredibly nice. The pizza, hot beef sandwiches and Chicago dog were all great. Food was awesome, atmosphere was great. Ordered the tickets on short notice and received them before the expected date. 15 rows off the 1st base side. It was perfect. September 16, 2010
