Colorado Rockies Ticket Information

The Rockies are one of baseball’s newest teams, joining Major League Baseball for the 1993 season. Colorado wasted little time before making noise in the National League, earning a playoff spot in 1995 after four different hitters mashed 30+ home runs during the regular season. The Rockies didn’t have a huge amount of success despite starting one of the best first baseman of the generation, Todd Helton, for 17 seasons. In 2007 Colorado set a franchise record with 90 regular season wins. That Rockies team showed impressive power, with four players crushing at least 24 home runs. With one of the best one-two punches in baseball in shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Matt Holliday, the Rockies won its first playoff series with a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS. They then swept the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS to reach the franchise’s first World Series, but were then knocked out of the playoffs in four games by the Boston Red Sox. Colorado’s most recent playoff appearance was in 2009, when the Rockies set a new franchise record with 92 wins, but were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round. 2014 Rockies Season Preview

Just how good is this Rockies team? They have the offense to challenge for a postseason spot, but will the pitching be there? Will they be more like the 64-win team of 2012 or could they improve into an 80+ win club in 2014? Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki are looking to make it the latter. Justin Morneau has joined his old Twins teammate Michael Cuddyer in Denver, and the Rockies offense looks potent. The pitching staff is led by Jhoulys Chacin, but they’ll need to count on healthy seasons from Jorge de la Rosa and Brett Anderson if they want to get on the right side of .500 once again.

The Rockies will be an interesting team to follow, especially if they can stay healthy. Depth is not their strength, but talent in important positions. They have a mountain to climb to compete with the Dodgers in the NL West.

Colorado Rockies Rivals

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks

These two NL West Clubs have quite a lot in common, and have shared some great matchups over the last 20 years. Both clubs are the only teams currently in the NL West that were not founding members, and have had to compete with established NL powers such as the Giants and Dodgers. The rivalry really gained traction in 2007 when both clubs made the playoffs and met for the NLCS. The Rockies won the series 4-0 and the Diamondbacks have never forgotten.

Rockies vs. Padres

Although this rivalry lacks the flare of Giants-Dodgers, it has been one of the most consistent in recent history. Both clubs have been evenly matched over the last couple years, and are a few young stars away from making a run at the NL West Pennant. While this rivalry has been competitive, it has yet to make its way into the limelight because both teams have yet to be contenders at the same time. When that inevitably happens, expect this rivalry to be one of the most fun to watch in the NL.

Rockies vs. Giants

While many Giants fans, writers, and media dismiss this game, they are missing one key factor. The Rockies always have their targets set on the Giants. The Rockies proved in 2007 that they have a great front office, and have the ability to put together a team worthy of reaching the World Series. It will only be a matter of time before they are an elite team again, and once that happens, the late season matchups between these teams promise to be as exciting as any in September.

Colorado Rockies in the World Series, National League Championship Series and MLB Playoffs

As an expansion team in 1993, it didn’t take long for the Colorado Rockies to make an impact. After missing the playoffs in their first two seasons, the Rockies earned a trip to the postseason as a Wild Card team in 1995. The Rockies didn’t return to the postseason again until 2007 when they also won their first NL pennant. Colorado is still searching for their first World Series and division title.

The majority of parking at Coors Field is located just north of the stadium. Parking Lot A runs from the north edge of Coors Field all the way past Broadway in the single largest, and most convenient parking location near the stadium. There are a few smaller parking lots to the south of Coors Field. The West Lot is directly south of the stadium in between 19th and 20th streets. A little farther away to the southwest of Coors is parking Lot 1 which is at 20th and Chestnut. If you don’t mind a little walk, parking Lot 2 is farther southwest of the stadium at 16th and Wewatta, and is usually a little bit cheaper.

Does my child need a ticket to attend the game?

Children 2 years old and younger are allowed to enter Coors Field without a ticket, but must sit on a parent’s lap for the duration of the game. It is best practice to bring proof of your child’s age with you to avoid any last minute hassles at the gate.
