Shane Robinson and Daniel Descalso hat RBI hits in the 4th to put the game out of reach for the Cubs.

August 16-18, 2013 at Wrigley Field (Chicago, IL) Cubs 7-0, Cardinals 4-0, Cardinals 6-1 The Cubs started the series off with a bang, scoring two in the bottom of the first and riding a spectacular start from Jake Arrieta to victory. Arrieta pitched 7 innings while allowing only two hits and striking out 7. Game two was a reversal of fortune, with the Cubs being the ones shut out. Joe Kelly continued his stellar play with a 6-inning, four-hit outing. The game was scoreless until the 4th when Carlos Beltran hit an RBI double to play Matt Carpenter.

August 9-11, 2013 at Busch Stadium (St. Louis, MO) Cubs 3-0, Cubs 6-5, Cardinals 8-4 Chris Rusin had one of the best starts of the year in game 1, throwing 6 scoreless innings while striking out five in the win. The game was scoreless til the top of the 7th when Junior Lake and Anthony Rizzo both had RBI hits to put the Cubs in the lead. In game two, the big hit of the night was a three-run HR from Matt Holliday to put the Cardinals up 3-1 in the 4th, but Darwin Barney and Nioner Navarro and RBI doubles in the 8th to take a lead they wouldn’t give back. The Cardinals finally won one in the 3rd game of the series behind a 3-run first inning and by chasing Edwin Jackson out of the game in the 6th.
