Kansas City Royals Ticket Information

The Royals made their Major League debut in the 1969 season—and were relatively successful at the onset for an expansion team. Kansas City finished fourth out of six in the American League West before improving to 85-76 in 1971 to secure second place in the division. In 1976, led by future Hall of Famer George Brett, the Royals reached the playoffs for the first time in team history. Kansas City would make the playoffs again the following two seasons, but they were not able to win a playoff series any of the three seasons. In 1980 the Royals again made the playoffs, but this year Brett and his team finally got over the hump and won a playoff series before falling to the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series. In 1985, after two more playoff appearances that ended without a series win, the Royals were back in the World Series. The series against the St. Louis Cardinals went to seven games, but Kansas City unleashed 11 runs in the deciding game to put away the Cardinals and win the franchise’s first championship. It’s been tough sailing for the Royals since their World Series victory, as the team has yet to return to the playoffs. The Royals have just seven winning seasons since 1985. Kansas City has retired the number of two players through the team’s history. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Kansas City Royals baseball tickets.

Kansas City Royals Rivals

Royals vs. Indians

The Royals and Indians have been playing for decades, but the rivalry didn’t really gain traction until both became founding members of the AL Central in 1994. Since then these two teams have played almost 19 times a season, becoming all too familiar with each other. The Indians dominated the early days of the AL Central, and the Royals have been fighting to regain the success of the 1980’s. Look for the Royals to make that breakthrough in the next few years, and for this rivalry to really heat up.

Royals vs. Cardinals

Known as the I-70 series, this rivalry is a battle for the hearts of baseball fans in Missouri. These two teams met for the first time in the 1985 World Series and have played over 70 times since. With the inception of interleague play in 1997, this became an annual series, much to the delight of the fans. The Cardinals hold an edge in the series, but the Royals won the only World Series matchup between them.

Kansas City Royals in the World Series, American League Championship Series and MLB Playoffs

The Kansas City Royals won their first division title in 1976 after missing the playoffs in their first seven seasons. Kansas City won the division three straight times between the years 1976-1978 and finally advanced to the World Series in 1980 after losing three straight times to the New York Yankees in the ALCS during the mid-1970s. Kansas City won their first of two World Series titles that season against the Philadelphia Phillies. Overall, the Royals have won more than five division titles and will only add to that number in the years to come.

Gates open to the general public 90 minutes before the first pitch at Kauffman Stadium.

Where are good places to eat before a Royals game?

Kansas City is known for having unbelievable barbeque. Of the dozens of great places close to Kauffman Stadium, we recommend trying LC’s Bar-B-Q, Gates Bar-B-Q, or Deke’s BBQ. There are a few good sports bars in the area. Harvey’s Tavern, 9th Inning Sports Bar & Grill, and Dukes on Grand are all worth checking out. If you are looking for a more upscale dining experience, try 801 Chophouse, Pierpont’s at Union Station, or Providence New American Kitchen. Mexican food fans should try Lobito’s Mexican Food, or Carlitos Mexican Food. Other great places in the area are Peachtree Buffet, Niecie’s Restaurant, and Leed’s Diner.

Where is the best place to park at Kauffman Stadium?

The parking areas immediately around Kauffman Stadium are reserved for parking pass holders and season ticket owners. The most convenient general parking location is to the east of the stadium at Parking Lot A. Lot A is split in half, with the east half being available for general parking. Another good parking area is just to the south of Parking Lot A at Parking Lot B on the south side of Royal Way. On the south side of Chiefs Way you will find large amounts of available parking on the east, west, and south sides of Arrowhead stadium, which are usually made available for Royals parking.

Does my child need a ticket to attend the game?

Children 32 inches tall and shorter are allowed to enter Kauffman Stadium without a ticket, but must sit on a guardian’s lap for the duration of the game.

Royals Baseball! I was a beautiful night for a baseball game as the Royals hosted the Houston Astros. The seat location was perfect. Upper level on the third base side. Great crowd. A little on the windy side but otherwise, very nice. Thank you Ticket City. It was a great evening. And the Royals won 7-2. June 10, 2013
