2009 Florida Marlins MLB Preview:
The Florida Marlins do not have to look far for inspiration heading into 2009, because the Tampa Bay Rays showed what was possible last season. The Rays shocked the baseball world by advancing to the 2008 World Series. The goal for the 2009 Marlins should be similar; to take control of a tough NL East division and then move quickly through the playoffs. If the Florida Marlins can play that script, then there could be an all Florida World Series in the very near future.

The Florida Marlins play baseball in the East division of Major League Baseball's National League. The Marlins were established as an expansion team in Miami in 1993. The franchise managed to buy a great deal of talent for the team by 1997, and won its first World Series in just its fifth season. After selling off much of that talent, the team went into a rebuilding phase, but would again manage another World Series title in 2003 under leadership of Ivan Rodriguez and Josh Beckett. Who can forget “the Inning” of game 6 of the NLCS that year when a Cubs fan took a foul ball out of the glove of Moises Alou, giving the Marlins the cchance they needed to come back and win the game and the series?
The Florida Marlins play their home games at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida. The stadium seats just over 36,000 for baseball, but can be expanded to 68,000 if necessary. While there was talk of a Marlins relocation, it seems the team will stay in the Miami area after all. Buy Florida Marlins tickets and watch this young team get back to the World Series for a third time the franchises young history!
