Pittsburgh Pirates Tickets Information

The Pirates are one of Major League Baseball’s oldest and most storied franchises, joining the National League back in 1887. Pittsburgh’s winning tradition began in 1900, when the Pirates, led by future Hall-of-Famer Honus Wagner, won three straight division titles. In 1909 Wagner’s Pirates won the franchise’s first World Series title. Pittsburgh then won again in 1925, then later in 1960. Through the 1970s the Pirates were one of the most feared teams in baseball. In that decade Pittsburgh won the NL East six times and won two World Series titles on the back of Willie Stargell and later Dave Parker. Though they fielded a few very strong teams, the Pirates weren’t back at the center of baseball until the 1990s, when a Barry Bonds led Pittsburgh team won three straight division titles, but failed to make it out of the National League Championship Series. Bonds would leave Pittsburgh after the 1992 season, ushering in a 20-year stretch of futility in which the Pirates failed to compile a winning record in any season. The play of Andrew McCutchen in 2013 helped the Pirates break their embarrassing streak and reach their first playoff appearance since 1992. The Pirates have retired the numbers of nine players and managers, plus Jackie Robinson’s No. 42. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Pittsburgh Pirates baseball tickets.

Pirates vs. Phillies

This battle between eastern and western Pennsylvania is one of the most historic rivalries in American sports. Dating back to 1887, these two teams have played over 2000 times with the Pirates edging out a sizable margin in wins. Both teams have seen dominant eras of success, and dreadful eras of mediocrity. What has been consistent for these two teams is the desire to win the baseball battle that is Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh Pirates Event Guide

What time do the gates open prior to a Pirates game?

On weekdays gates at PNC Park open 90 minutes before the first pitch. Gates are opened 2 and a half hours before game time for weekend games.

Where are good places to eat before a Pirates game?

PNC Park is located in the same area as many of the best restaurants in Pennsylvania. One of our favorites is Meat & Potatoes. Meat & Potatoes is trendy, fun, and has amazing gastropub food. Thai food fans should not miss visiting Nicky’s Thai Kitchen. If you are looking for a more sophisticated menu try Eleven, Sonoma Grill, or Seviche. James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy has a unique atmosphere and is great for those who love to listen to live music while they dine. Other great places in the area are Penn Brewery, Bistro Penn, Dominic’s, and Jerome Bettis Grille 36.

Where is the best place to park at PNC Park?

PNC Park is located close to many good parking options. Stretching from the west of the stadium all the way to Heinz Field are 3 large general parking lots that are usually easy to get into and a very short walk to the arena. Immediately to north of PNC Park are a few smaller general parking lots and pre-paid lots that have the most convenient entry and exit from the stadium. A little farther north is the Allegheny Center Parking located on South Commons Street. This parking garage offers a large number of parking spaces and is usually easy to find a spot.

Does my child need a ticket to attend the game?

Children under 32 inches tall are allowed to enter PNC Park without a ticket and must sit on a guardians lap for the duration of the game.
